Finishing off those ugly doorways

Many times over the years we've been faced with trying to effectively finish off at doorways and transition spots between rooms. So far, this has been the best solution. We use a piece of bull-nosed skirting board.

These skirts come in different widths so we can be pretty sure to find the right size that we'll be needing. They look good and offer a nice gentle transition under foot, with no sharp edges or angles.

This particular job needed two, one going with the boards the other going across.

Nice finish

This here is another job where we removed the chipboard floor from a house in Frankston and replaced it with second-hand Tasmanian Oak. You may check it all out right HERE on the web-site if you wish.

Because we didn't want to risk pulling the chipboard out from beneath the sliding doors and having them sag...or worse break, we opted to leave a strip of the chipboard, then butt the Tasmanian Oak flooring up to it and cover it with a transition board.

With it needing fairly wide coverage we opted to use some good looking American Red Oak skirting and it worked an absolute treat. Just as we were hoping.Once sanded and coated it gave it that nice, professional finish that you'd expect when having this sort of work done.

It's all cut and pre-drilled to ensure it doesn't have any splits.

Now with some coatings over it bringing it to life
